Description: This is a very nice serving bowl in Johnson Brothers "Old Britain Castles" pattern. Labeled "oval vegetable bowl", I suppose you could use for anything you wish. It is titled "Arundel Castle in 1792". It is hand-painted in what is known as "clobbed" transferware -- which means the colors were hand-painted on top of the brown transferred printed design. Hallmark is printed with word "England" only -- not with words "Made In", which allows us to date the piece between 1895 and 1918. Dimensions: 9.75" Long x 7.75” Wide x 2.5” Tall I recently purchased a large set of this pattern. See my other items if similar pieces are of interest. Combined shipping always applies for multiple purchases. If you purchase more than one item, please wait for me to invoice you on additional items so that you are charged the correct actual postage. In the even you pay excess shipping, overage will be refunded immediately to you. Condition: Excellent giftable condition. Two pinpoint manufacturing flaws on underside rim - probably where piece was raised up in kiln, so normal (shown in last 3 photos). No crazing, but no discoloration. Paint intact without erosion. No chips, flakes, breaks, mends, repairs, cracks, hairlines, blemishes, or mentionable boo-boo's. Don't feel anything amiss when I run finger around edges. Colored transfers and clobbed overpainting are intact, with good color, no scratches or erosion. Unpacked weight: 1 pound, 1.2 oz. Always happy to pass through discounts on combined shipping. I only charge actual postage, and always use recycled packing materials. Note some photos appear redundant because I take photos from all possible angles. On symmetrical items, these photos may appear redundant when there are no distinguishing differences or condition issues between side views. I gladly accept returns, but please note I do not pay return postage unless there was a significant error in my description. The item listed is being sold as is, as pictured and as described to the best of my knowledge. All dimensions and weights approximate. If you have a question or an assumption on an item prior to purchase, please ask. I much prefer to take the time on the front end to make sure you will be satisfied with your purchase. Remember, when buying vintage expect imperfections as these items have a history and have been in the possession of others. I try to list EVERY flaw which would be commented on something in an antique or vintage condition – this does not mean all imperfections resulting from normal wear & use require comment. My goal is to have no rude surprises upon receipt.
