(9) RARE SET of Vintage Antique Murano Amber Swirl Optic Glass Finger Bowls READ

Description: A Very RARE Set of (9) Vintage or Antique Murano Amber Gold Brown Optic Swirl Finger Bowls. These measure 4.75" diameter and 2.25" high. They are hand made glass as indicated by the tiny air bubbles throughout and the variations in color. See the photo of the nine bowls together. Finger Bowls are often mistaken for ramekins, ice cream, fruit or dessert bowls, and vice versa. Finger Bowls should be big enough to dip all five fingers in at once. Finger Bowls came into fashion in the late 1800's and continued to be popular into the early 1900's They were used for formal dinners, between the main course and the dessert course, to rinse the fingers. Use of Finger Bowls fell off dramatically during WWI and pretty much disappeared by the 1950's. There are no markings on these bowls, but I was told by a glass appraiser they are Murano glass. It is quite possible these date to the first World War,1918, or thereabouts. READ: See photos. Five of these bowls have no chips or cracks. They are in Excellent Vintage Antique Pre-Owned condition for their age and use. One bowl has (2) flea bites on the outside rim. Three have (1) chip each on the outside rim. These chips are small and do not affect the ability to use these bowls.
