Some electric saws have information about the chain size on the bar or on the label on the motor area of the saw. Often the owners manual provides the OEM part number and that can be crossed into NORMAL chain numbers of pitch, gauge and drive link counts.In many cases the manufacturers have made specific part numbers for regular chain sizes to try to force you to buy their products by not being able to cross them. Don't pay $13-$20 or more to be hooked by OEM part number. We ask for your support in helping find model numbers and fitment information so everyone can enjoy the savings.The DIME test - Many of the Ryobi models have 3/8 LP and 33 drive links on the bar but they do not have the gauge. The drive link can be measured with a caliper and will be within a few thousands of an inch of .043" if it is .043 gauge chain. A bit less precise is the DIME test by checking grove in the bar a dime is about .050" and should not fit into the groove on a bar using .043 gauge chain. Installation - We get messages that these chains do not fit from customers who have saws that these chains fit. After 100s of times answering the same issues here is a few pointers. The adjuster must be turned to its minimum adjustment closest to the drive sprocket. The bar needs to be removed from the saw and the chain installed first on the bar with slack to the drive end. The excess chain is hooked over the drive and bar is lowered onto the bar mount stud and adjustment hole in the bar. The owners manual shows this process. The "belt over pulley" method will not work on short bars. The chain cutters must point away from the saw on top of the bar, backward chains will not cut. See our pictures.
