Description: This listing is for a rare set of 1940's gift wrapping paper. I am putting the date at 1948, as I am sure it was made after WWII, while there was still a paper shortage, and before 1950, when the designs changed. The style is a slightly patriotic design, combined with an Art Deco look. The poinsettias say "Holiday Greetings" in very faint silver. The poinsettias are bright red, joined together by lines of tiny stars. The one sheet of gold and silver stars feature "star bursts" that are reminiscent of fireworks. The silver & gold sheet has faded a bit - or maybe started out faint, and has grown fainter over time. The paper is thin and slightly shiny, almost a tissue paper. In the 1940's, after WWII, raw materials were still hard to come by for the commercial industries, so they made do - making the paper thinner, and sometimes, as in the boxed sets, smaller. The paper is unused, with a tiny bit of wear along the edges. It still has it's original manufacturer paper band. It's great paper, that won't disappoint!
