Description: Penn Antique Restoration Penn Antique Restoration 31.5"x79" Antique Solid Wood Interior Door w/5 Panels * Please note that the 31.5"x79" in the title is just an estimate. The door is not exactly that size. Please see "Dimensions" below. Elegant, antique interior door salvaged from an old, home in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The door is made of solid Douglas fir or pine, and has a faux grain on each side. When most people hear "pine" they think of a cheap, weak, soft wood. New pine hewn from 10 - 20 year old trees don't have the same insect-resistant, rot-resistant, or even fire-resistant qualities that old pine, hewn from trees hundreds of years old have. Old pine is also much harder and stronger than young pine. The door has a Victorian style, 5-panel arrangement with 4 vertical panels divided by a small horizontal panel. The panels are raised on both sides. Hardware: The door isn't equipped with any hardware. However, we have a good selection of hardware to outfit it (check out our eBay store). * If you would like the hardware holes plugged with solid wood, please email us for a quote. Quirks & Considerations: The door has an 1/8" gap (see last photo). This is not a serious issue and the doors can still be installed and used for decades without the gaps widening. However, we could close the gap using clamps and reinforce/secure the corners using modern glue and some dowels (wooden joints)--message us for a quote. The width of the door was unevenly cut by 1 3/8". The cuts were most likely made to accommodate a warped floor or sagging foundation. We could cut the door to an even height/width, or cut it narrower/shorter, or even build it up to be wider/taller--message us for a quote. Condition: Considering the door is at least 100 years old, it is strong, sturdy and in great condition. It only has nicks and scratches, but no rot, warp, broken/cracked joints, or any other serious issues. Most of the blemishes that it has will disappear after sanding, prior to refinishing or repainting, and whatever remains will be subtle, "character marks". Strip/Refinish: We could strip/refinish, or partially or completely strip the door to prepare it for you to repaint or refinish. We have MANY photos of doors that we've restored that could give you an idea of how this door could clean up. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Swing: The door is set up to swing into a room towards the left or away from a room towards the right. We can change the swing of any door--message us for a quote. Modification: We could also modify the door to fit your opening or suite your needs. We could make a frame, trim or add to the height or width, replace panels with glass, reverse the swing, plug the hardware holes, etc. Email us with a small description of what you would like done, and we'll give you a quote. Dimensions: 30 3/4" - 31 5/8" x 79 1/4" x 1 3/8" Too tall, short, wide or narrow? We could increase or decrease the height and/or width--email us for a quote.
