Description: Beautiful collection old & rare books , richly illustrated , printed in Amsterdam and Antwerp in 18th - 19th century 1) J.H.Hering - Reflection on the Dutch Flood disasters, between the 14th and 15th of November. 1775, by J.H. Hering, first part, with amazing and dramatic folding engravings - Amsterdam, by de Wed. Loveringh and Allart, 1776 Illustrated with 7 folding engravings: Amsterdam, Oosthuizen/Waarder, Delfshaven, Bergsche Veld near Heusden, Scheveningen, Texel and Kampen, all by N. v.d. Meer after H. Kobell and by himself. Half leather - 245 pp - 22 x 13 cm - part 1 (of 2) in good condition, complete, somewhat spotty at times. Compact and solid. Engravings in excellent condition. Original title in Dutch : J.H.Hering - Bespiegeling over Neerlandsch Waternood, tusschen den 14e en 15e Nov. 1775, door J.H. Hering , eerste deel, met kunst plaaten - Amsterdam, by de Wed. Loveringh en Allart, 1776 2) Extremely rare anonymous devout (pilgrim) manual, pocket book, from 1834 "The spiritual rosary of the Blessed Virgin and Mother of God Mary, or various ways to pray the holy Rosary with devotion" Original title in Dutch: "Het geestelyk roozelaerken der alderheyligste Maegd en Moeder Gods Maria, of verscheyde manieren om den heyligen Roozen-krans god-vruchtiglyk te bidden" Antwerp, M.Vinck frères, 1834 - leather - ex-Libris A.Keersmaekers/M.Ooms - illustrated with woodcut title engraving with poem: " Komt Pelgrims met Vlyt,wilt deze Maegd eeren,zoo hoort zij u gebed,Eer gij zult wederkeeren..." loosely translated: "Come Pilgrims with Diligence,will you honor this Maid,so she hears your prayer,Before you return..." 168 pp - pocket size, 13 x 8 cm - used, well-thumbed, frayed, title page is loose, spotty, possibly missing last page... otherwise compact and complete.Binding somewhat damaged but solid. Rare, I can't find an identical copy. 3) Rare Dutch/Flamish Folk book: The history of Floris and Blancchefleur - 19th century 'Oudt Holland by the children of Izaak and Johannes Enschedé, city printers on the Prinsestraet, in Laurens Koster, [1895?]' In-4°, [24] pp, "...The old French medieval legend of Floire et Blanceflore was translated into Dietsche rhymes by Dirc van Assenede around 1250, which translation is the basis of this chapbook..." , without cover , in plastic protective sleeve, complete with some woodcut illustrations. in good condition.
