This mod 1970's ring was set with a diamond when it came into our store, but Eytan used the diamond for another project and redid the stone basket in white gold to accommodate the coolest peridot we've ever seen. This completely natural and untreated stone has the ideal bright green apple color but it's filled with needles, like a rutilated quartz. In peridot, these needles are made of chromite and typically occur in stones mined from the Himalayan mountains in Pakistan, as this stone was. The peridot is 8mm in diameter and 6.2mm deep. It has a mixed cut (brilliant cut on the crown and checkboard on the bottom) and weighs 2.45 carats. The ring is shaped like a cigar band but it's open in front (making room for the stone basket). It tapers from 11.4mm in front to 3.5mm in the back and is solid 14 karat yellow gold. Sizing: This ring is a size 7.5, but fits a little larger (more like an 8). It can be resized but radical resizing will require some finesse (and probably the removal and resetting of the peridot). Marks: The inside is marked "14k;" no maker's marks. Weight: 10.3 grams. Condition: The peridot and 14 karat white gold stone basket are new. The ring is around 50 years old but Eytan polished it, so it looks like new. Thanks for looking!
