Description: Limited edition(20) linocut ,signed and dated,6" X4", by Bill Payne of Kettles Yard Cambridge in Alfred Wallis style .Kettles yard is an art gallery in Cambridge.Once owned by art collector Jim Ede, it was given by him to the University of Cambridge.A fantastic place with works by Wallis,Wood,Hepworth, Nicholson,Moore, Miro and Brancusi .This place has one of the largest collections of work by the naive St Ives artist Alfred Wallis.Ben Nicholson and Kit Wood introduced Ede to the work of Alfred Wallis. This is my interpretation of how Wallis might have painted Kettles yard if he had ever visited the place. The spiky trees, sap green grass, black outlining and blotchy skies.just a bit of fun.Paper glued to card .Edition of 20 only.My father was at Cambridge in the mid 1930's and had a very good life there. His later wartime experiences were the antidote to punting on the Cam,leisurely study and girlfriends and beer.Bill was born in 1951and lives in Worcestershire .6 sold.
