Description: 2017 Pebble Beach Concours 1951 FERRARI 212 Export Barchetta Poster Sign Cutout Content of this listing But for the Love of Cars. All rights reserved. A unique offering from the 2017 Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance, this is a beautifully executed sign board cutout of the 1951 Ferrari 212 Export Touring Barchetta (chassis 0102 E) featured on Barry Rowe's 2017 Pebble Beach Concours poster art. This is one of four cutouts displayed during Concours week around the Lodge and in the tent on the 18th fairway. Laminated sign brilliantly printed on sturdy commercial foam board and laser cut around the outline of the car. The history of this Barchetta is complicated, especially since the chassis and the body were separated from each other when the car was rebodied for the 1955 Kirk Douglas movie The Racers. The story goes that the movies producer, Henry Hathaway, asked Enzo Ferrari to loan him cars for the movie. After Enzo refused, Phil Hill helped arrange for Fox Studios to purchase three Ferrarisincluding this Barchettawhich the producer had modified to avoid giving Ferrari any free publicity. He called them Buranos. Chassis 0102 E remained a Burano until the current owner, Tom Peck, reunitedthe original body with its original chassis. Barry Rowe, a member of the Automotive Fine Arts Society (AFAS), painted his first poster for the Pebble Beach Concours in 1998. That poster is still among the most sought-after Concours posters, and it kicked off a 20-year tradition for Rowe of creating art for Concours and Tour event posters. Cutout measures 47" x 30" (121 cm x 77 cm). In excellent condition. This is a terrific display piece, ready to hang in your garage, showroom, rec room, or store.
