Description: Pete Alonso is a professional baseball player who currently plays first base for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball (MLB). He was born on December 7, 1994, in Tampa, Florida.Alonso played college baseball at the University of Florida before being selected by the New York Mets in the second round of the 2016 MLB draft. He quickly rose through the minor league ranks, hitting 36 home runs in 2018 and earning the organization's Minor League Player of the Year award.Alonso made his MLB debut on March 28, 2019, and had a historic rookie season. He set the MLB rookie record for home runs in a season with 53, breaking Aaron Judge's previous record of 52. Alonso was named the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year and was selected to the All-Star Game. He also won the Home Run Derby during All-Star Weekend.In the shortened 2020 season, Alonso hit .231 with 16 home runs and 35 RBIs in 57 games.
