It most closely resembles Sabal mexicana but it is different and its true origin is not at all known. It does produce a very large seed or rather fleshy seed covering so that it does resemble seeds of S. mexicana to some degreeSome say it may be a hybrid of the S. bermuda and the mexicana. Regardless it is a very large and a relatively fast growing Sabal (when compared to others). IT IS VERY COLD HARDY AND TOLERATES TEMPS BELOW 17F with no signs if any damage.
