Description: A rustic pair of pottery goblets handmade by the legendary Marj Peeler (1926-2017) of Putnam County, Indiana in the studio she ran with her husband Richard for decades. Both are signed Marj Peeler on the base. The clay is a speckled light grey. The glaze has a low sheen—closer to matte than glossy. The bowl features an abstract wave-&-splotch design in shades of brown and purple and holds 4-5 oz of liquid. The tapered stems exhibit a distinctive wide groove. See all pics. No chips. No cracks. Terrific condition. Same pattern but not identical due to the artistic process: Goblet 1: measures 5.5” tall and the base has a tiny wobble on a flat hard surface that adds to its handmade charm. Goblet 2: measures 5.25” tall and rests firmly on a flat surface. No other provenance. An as is sale.
