Up for auction are 2 STUNNING IRVING W. RICE IMPORTED PINK & FROSTED ROUND GLASS BIRD TRINKET BOXES, ALL IN ABSOLUTELY PERFECT CONDITION WITH THEIR ORIGINAL IMPORTED LABELS. Irving W. Rice was one of the largest importers of glass perfume and trinket boxes from Czechoslovakia from the 1920's until World War 2 destroyed both the skilled glass blowers and cutters was well as the famous "Bohemian Glass Houses". Perfume and trinket boxes were then and then imported from Taiwan, as these were, as their original labels shown on their bottoms. Both trinket boxes have frosted tops, and only one has a pink frosted bottom. There are absolutely no scratches anywhere on the boxes, even on their bottoms, where scratches would normally be expected, as can be seen in the photographs. Each round covered Trinket Box base measures 2 7/8 inches across while the two-bird top measuring 3 1/2 inches high, and the single bird top measures 4 1/4 inches high, as seen in the photographs. Each trinket box weighs about 8 ounces. They are truly beautiful and elegant, and were purchased from an old estate sale on Long Island. I have been collecting unusual vintage objects for many years, and always try to describe the items as best as I can. I don't see any chips, fleabites, cracks, stains, cloudiness, stains, or repairs anywhere. There does seem to be a little excess of glue holding each bird to its frosted top which is probably how they were originally manufactured. What's amazing is how each bird including beaks and wings are all perfect without anything broken or missing, as well as their original imported labels, as can be seen in the photographs. They come from a smoke-free home. I only accept PayPal, and never charge extra for packaging and handling.
