Description: Here are 2 old Japanese Satsuma style vases. The larger vase is probably Meiji Period(1868-1912). It has 2 different scenes with 2 figures likely meant to depict scholars and the traditional applied ring, rope and tassel design on the sides. The vase is 5 inches high and 1 3/4 inches across at the top. There is crazing, and the rim has a dark chip on the rim and an unglazed area inside that has darkened. There's also a dark crack on the top applied ring on one side. The work is a bit rough but charming. There are no marks. The smaller vase is later and has a backstamp that reads "Made in Japan" around 2 Japanese characters. It has a raised tree with stylized green flowers and white fruit and a green and yellow bird perched on a limb. It's 3 1/8 inches high and measures 1 1/8 inches across the top rim. There's a small chip at the bottom to the right of the tree base, and the inside rim is crazed. The gilt on the rim and the bird has some wear.
