Description: This 2 Lot of etchings by John M. Falconer 1820-1903, American. Extremely early. 1 signed and dated in plate May 31, 1880. representing the beginning of the American Etching Revival. Dark rich ink. No distractions within the plate line. See photos. Second and smaller of the 2 signed in pencil, J. M. Falconer. No description within the plate line. Both etchings are well inked with strong pronounced plate lines. The larger of the 2 measures 5 1/2" x 7" paper size and 3" x 5" from plate line to plate line. The smaller of the 2 measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" paper size and 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" from plate line to plate line. I have seen many Falconer etchings -- neither of these have I ever run across. TY20
