2 Folkwear sewing patterns ~ #223 A LADY'S CHEMISE & #114 CHINESE JACKET

Description: This listing features 2 FOLKWEAR patterns from the early 1980's. One (number 114) is for a Classic Chinese Jacket in 3 lengths with front or asymmetrical opening. It is based on the formal court robe of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644). The jacket has been simplified into a very versatile design with different options for unusual closures. The pattern size is Small, Medium, and Large. It has been cut out - to the LARGE size. The pattern envelope is torn but intact and has the word "Me" written on the front. The suggested fabrics and silk, chintz, polished cotton, medium and lightweight cotton and lightweight wool. It includes transfer designs for traditional roundels or embroidery and complete instructions of how to make the jacket, knotted button and loop closures, and the embroidery stitches for the roundels as well as the hand painting techniques. The second pattern (number 223) is for a Lady's Chemise in sizes 6 - 16. This garment was worn next to a lady's skin and this pattern would make perfect vintage nightgown or simple summer dress. The pattern features 2 styles from the 19th century - one has an off the shoulder neckline and the other is on the shoulder. Both have ruffled cap sleeves and can be made into a medium or long gown or cut off as a delightful blouse. The suggested fabrics are lightweight cottons, batiste, lawn, voile or gauze.
