Description: A stunning, wonderfully hand crafted antique French Rouen hand-painted ceramic vase ‘tulipiere’ with floral decorations in the blue, yellow and green colour palette. It also includes a rare heraldic image with crown. Marked on downside and numbered. Tulipieres first originated in 1600s London during the height of “tulip mania”, and were initially used to grow tulip bulbs—the bulbs were placed so a single bloom would grow from each spout.
