1993 Edwards ESP Explorer E-EX-75M (MX/LTD EXP Metallica Hetfield Style)

Description: - - Price is $1250 USD - - I have a 1993 Edwards EX-75M Explorer for sale, which is a rare guitar from ESP’s Japan-only lineup with a MX-250 style body and MX-220 lawsuit Banana headstock. The guitar was listed first in the 1993 catalog, however most of the guitars from this period do not have a serial on the outside so it is difficult to date the model (mostly likely between 1993 and 1996). Due to the rarity of this model in particular, the discontinuation of traditional Gibson-style Explorers from ESP/Edwards in Japan and the gloss black MX style finish these guitars have been growing in value. These models are superior to the Grassroots GMX-48 and LTD EXP 200 as the Edwards has a Mahogany body, unbranded Gotoh Hardware and are all made in Japan, as opposed to the Grassroots Alder body, ESP hardware and Korean build. Most LTD EXP 200s too have an Alder body except for some 1997-98 models. The Edwards EX-75Ms also always feature a double dot at the 12th fret rather than a ’LTD’ inlay like most EXP 200s. The guitar is stock and is in 'fair' condition for a 30 year old instrument. There were decals that have since been removed, also just general wear on the paint and scuffs as it has been neglected by a previous owner. Sound output is confirmed and it can look great but the nut needs to be reset, and also it needs some wax, polish and TLC from its new owner, so I will price it lower than what I know Edwards EX-75Ms/MIJ EXP 200s have gone for in the past (typically $1700-2000 USD based on upgrades) - feel free to ask me for old listings and/or do your own research for sales data. The pluses are an upgrade to the EMG 81X/ EMG 85X active pickups from the standard Edwards/ESP EH-120 passives, and the guitar also comes with a Hercules stand.
