Description: Vintage 1992 Fall Winter HAL Space-Age Electronics Catalog Description Up for sale is a vintage Home Automation Laboratories (or HAL for short) space-age electronics catalog from the late fall/winter season of 1992. This catalog (along with several others that I'm currently in the process of listing up for sale) was kept in an open tote storage crate for the past several years (or decades, rather) which picked up quite a bit of dust and played host to a termite infestation that caused damage to most of the catalogs that were in there (which I had no choice but to toss out completely). Luckily, this catalog was spared, however, it does still have a bit of wear on it. That bit of wear appears mainly in the form of foxing (i.e. yellowing/staining) throughout the pages and/or cover itself. The cover also has developed some tearing right along the stapled spline starting from the top and working its way down to the first staple area; which basically means that the cover is starting to tear away due to just how old it is and more importantly because of where it was kept and all. The thing I find most interesting about this catalog (which was basically the same sentiment that I had about it years ago when I first got it) is that somehow the publisher managed to use images of the Jetsons cartoon to promote this publication. I always wondered if this was legit or maybe done before some adamant cease and desist letters would have been sent their way and whatnot. Either way, it's a pretty interesting quirk to it all. Anyways, this catalog also had a recipient address printed on a label which was either torn off at one point or another or simply fell off after all the years just dried out its adhesive and what have you. The former seems to be the more likely scenario here, as there are some traces left over on the rear cover from this removal; which is half of the adhesive that was on the sticker and half the printed graphic material that was ripped off from the rear cover and whatnot. Aside from that, there may be some noticeable crease marks that have developed on the cover and/or throughout the pages; which may also exhibit some signs of scuffing on them which probably caused some bent pages along the corners here and there. The rear cover page also seems to have a small tear on it along the bottom edge located towards the left. Basically put, this catalog exhibits all the typical hallmarks of wear that one would expect to find on a catalog of such vintage. Despite the minor wear and tear exhibited on this catalog; it's still in pretty good shape all things considered. I figure with a bit of preventative maintenance (i.e. some archival safe tape) the publication can most likely be restored if you have the know how and some time to spare.
