This uncommon, non-catalog “Made in Japan” Strat was crafted at the Fujigen factory during the golden age of Fender Japan production, essentially a progenitor of the Yngwie Malmsteen signature model ST72, sharing a scalloped fretboard and '72-centric features including a large headstock, bullet truss rod, three-bolt F neck plate, and block bridge saddles. Tonewoods include a basswood body and a one-piece maple neck, and this ST72-75SC weighs 7lbs 5oz. The scalloping favors the treble side, with more limited scalloping on the bass-side fretboard edge. The trio of ST-Current alnico magnet single coils deliver a neck pickup with bell-like chime and warmth, offering thinned-out squawk in positions 2 and 4, and a sparkling spank in the bridge position.
