Barbara Coleman and Phillip Sage. "Bankers are people helpers" read the sign and there were scores of people lined up at teller cages 25 and 26 for liquid assets. But what was being served were drinks at the Opera Ball patron party where everyone hibernated for a couple of hours before crossing the street to the National Bank of Commerce for the main event. The annual patron festivity was held in the Hibernia National Bank's vault for a number of years, but with the gaining popularity of the ball, committee members lobbied for the lobby and ended up getting two, that of the Hibernia and the NBC.
