1984 Charvel Strat San Dimas Strathead Bound Body

Description: 1984 Charvel Strat San Dimas Strathead Bound Body Mahogany bound body not sure if it has a maple top. Hum-Single-Hum pickup layout. Pickups are a Seymour Duncan Custom labeled DC-J in bridge position. Seymour Duncan 59 labeled 59N-J in neck position. The middle single coil appears to be a Duncan as well with a sticker labeled INC, I cannot confirm what that means. 4 knob Gibson style controls. The control cavity is an early example of the “Ontario” rout, used to fit the Gibson control layout. 1-3/4” wide maple neck with slab ebony 22 fret fingerboard. Frets are in great shape with very little wear. This is the legendary Charvel neck shape and feel. Matching black Strat headstock. Original black Gotoh tuners. Added vintage Floyd Rose Tremolo system. Guitar weighs in at 8 lbs 14-5/8 oz. Original San Dimas neck plate with serial number 3092. Neck pocket has date of 1/23/84, is initialed NL. Neck heel has work order number in pencil of #1098. Here is the story… I believe this guitar originally built with a stop tailpiece and tuneomatic bridge. There is evidence of a stoptail sized circle behind the bridge. (See photo) The seller told me his brother ordered this guitar to replace a Gibson SG that he once had, this would explain the control layout and the possibility of the stop tailpiece theory. I believe the whole Floyd routing was professionally added and there is a small wooden stop attached to prevent floating. As far as the electronics the center single coil appears original to the instrument. The typical Charvel rubbing compound is apparent in the cavity. The two volume controls are push-pull. It also looks like the single coil is attached to what would be a tone control. Please study the controls and assess the wiring path. I think this guitar was originally all black due to the black paint in the control cavity. The rear body finish must be refinished in my opinion. The black top finish appears to be touched up.
