Algiers Levee enlargement, Air view of New Orleans, Louisiana - Increased flood protection for Algiers Point advances with levee enlargement from Hendee Street, foreground, to Atlantic Street, on the far side of the open strip of land. Also visible is the 1100 foot long setback just beyond Atlantic Street. Upstream an additional enlargement is under construction from DeArmas to Delaronde Streets, and a second setback will be constructed at the Algiers Iron Works and Drydock Company. Levee work on both sides of the point, including riverside slope paving, is being performed under a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers $1.2 million contract. Photo measures 10 x 8 inches.
