Description: The 1979 Topps Hockey Set includes 264 cards. This set is of course the Gretzky Rookie card year. This set also strayed from the all white fronts. The set shows a nice blue border with team logo in the bottom right connected to a white swoosh that goes up the right side and across the top where is shows the team name. the backs have a graphic of a skate in blue and inside the skate has all the info. It has Vitals, Card Number, Stats ans Comments. Outside the skate is a cartoon about the player. Four new teams were absorbed from the defunked WHA. The new teams were the Edmonton Oilers, New England Whalers, Winnipeg Jets and Quebec Nordiques. The set highlighted Card #83 recap the previous years Stanley Cup Finals. Cards 161-165 were Record Breakers and Honoured. Team Cards were #244-261. There were Many important last cards and other important Rookies.
