Description: For sale is a 1979 Lincoln Continental Mark V Collector’s Series in the rare triple-white configuration. It is in superb functional and cosmetic condition throughout. This car has been modified from original specifications as follows: A very high quality repaint has been done in a modern white pearl brighter than the original white and especially stunning in the sunshine very nearly flawless condition with correct style pinstripes painted crisply under the clear coat all nine flexible bumper filler panels were removed, completely stripped and repainted to match One subtle flaw in the passenger side door panel remains, in line for The PDR guy in my area to repair it An Edelbrock intake manifold and 4bbl carburetor have replaced the Motorcraft 2bbl Recent full dual exhaust from convertors back The radio and speakers have been replaced with a more modern system Bumper guard pads are now black, body side molding inserts are now white. These were originally a gold color. The white Collector’s Series cars came in two exterior trim configurations. Like this car, some came with the gold painted Turbine wheels and gold bumper pad / side molding inserts. Others had midnight blue painted Turbines with the standard black bumper guard pads and white body side moldings. I prefer the latter combination but kept the gold wheels to create this unique blend of factory correct parts. By far, most Collector’s Series cars came with a dark blue cloth interior featuring bucket seats up front separated by a console (among many other Collector’s Series exclusive features). A leather interior was also offered in white or midnight blue. These front seats were upgraded from the standard leather seating, with leather wrapped rear and bottom trim panels, map pockets on the backside along with a pull strap, but came with the same 50/50 Twin Comfort Lounge configuration as the standard Mark V (no console). In very rough numbers, 70-80K Mark Vs were produced each model year, 1977 – 1979. The Collector’s Series cars total about 6000, all 1979 models, roughly 4000 in midnight blue, and 2000 in white. Of those white Collector’s Series cars, only 304 were “triple-white” with the white leather interior option - or around 0.13% of Mark V production. Very few options existed for these cars since nearly everything on the options list was standard. The full list can be found online but they include the upgraded and exclusive interior configurations as described, unique pinstripes, oval opera window deleted, crown molding leading the Landau vinyl top with integrated coach lamps, Dark Ebony woodgrain pattern on the dash panels, instrument knobs, switch housings, ashtray lids, map pocket inserts, and other details. The grille insert is gold trimmed and the shell has a unique “Mark V” emblem and hood ornament. The passenger compartment carpeting is twice the density of the standard car, and even the trunk carpeting is upgraded, color matched and includes the bottom side of the trunk lid. A leather wrapped tool kit was included as well and the one in this car is 100% complete and like new. The leather covered owner’s manual binder is NOS, also as new. The list goes on to include many from the standard Mark V options list; lumbar control for driver’s seat, reclining passenger seat, headlight convenience group and many others including the Illuminated Entry System which is still working perfectly. The three most significant options for a Collector’s Series, often absent, are the power sliding moonroof, factory integrated CB radio, and driver’s mirror with the illuminated thermometer. This car has all three, making it especially unusual indeed. The interior has been fully refurbished from moderately worn (I have plenty of ‘before’ pictures) to absolutely beautiful fresh condition. The headliner and its moldings along with the visors were left in the car and simply cleaned in place. Absolutely everything else white, and then some, was removed from the car, thoroughly cleaned, repaired as necessary, and recolored using SEM’s Sure Coat product in exactly the correct original color. I can show undamaged original panels adjacent to freshly painted, and it’s indistinguishable. As important, it’s now all exactly the same correct color, leather, vinyl, plastic, rather than faded in various shades as happens with different materials that also see different UV exposure over time. I wanted that perfect monochrome look that it had when new, and it was worth the significant time and effort required. The moonroof halo panel had the typical front middle crack and was repaired so that it will never happen again, fresh bumpers and fully lubed the moonroof system in the process. The carpet was shampooed and thoroughly dried immediately afterward, it is in excellent condition free of any stains or damage of any kind. The leather covered dash (exclusive to the Collector’s Series in 1979) had just a few tiny flaws, almost decided to leave it alone. But now I’m quite happy that I removed it, made the small repairs, and it is now also like new, all fading and the few scratches are gone. Chrome trim on the instrument cluster, vents, etc..were touched up. Door panel chrome trim is all outstanding with zero cracks (driver side is NOS) and bright smooth finishes, same for pull strap anchors. The Dark Ebony woodgrain surfaces on the switch housings and ashtray lids have all been restored with 100% correct vinyl decals, same for the map pocket panel and rear pull strap screw covers at each end. All together it makes for a very pleasant place to be and look around! Many other little details have been addressed, several additional NOS parts substituted, and all systems are functioning as they should. Hot heat, cold air, all lights, switches, windows, both 6-way seats working in all directions (drivers side switch is another NOS item). Even the clock works smoothly and accurately including all chronometer functions. The Miles To Empty gauge works! The diagnostic bar and instrument cluster were both removed, cleaned all electrical conducting surfaces, and replaced every bulb with a new one. I polished the small blue lenses inside the cluster covering those bulbs, and repainted the indicator needles with the correct fluorescent orange paint. Everything is as brilliant as day one, and the Mark V cluster design, illuminated at nighttime, is one of the overall best design features in my humble opinion. I’ve been looking at them regularly for nearly 30 years and I still enjoy it. This is a turn-key car. There are no mechanical or electrical issues to resolve. It starts with just a touch of the key every time. It idles smoothly, accelerates strongly, cruises the highway, stops, turns, all exactly as it should with no strange noises, no vibrations, no smells, no worries. 66K miles have been covered, 6600 or less would be easily believable.I also have available a very rare 1976 Mark IV, Silhouette version, also listed.
