It has a CCE camo pattern exterior cover. This was the standard helmet for the French Army from 1978 to 1992. It had replaced the M1951 helmet and was the last steel helmet used by the French Military. It was nicknamed the "Heavy Helmet". The SPECTRA helmet replaced it in 1992. Overall, this helmet is in Very Good Plus - Fine condition, considering its age and history. There are scrapes and handling marks. There appears to be no dents or dings. The rolled edge is intact with some scattered finish loss along the seam. The inside has a couple small scrapes, but no notable wear. Most of the paint is still intact. The inside top of the helmet has markings "1979" in the center, surrounded by "DUNOIS COUSANCE 39190". There are no other visible markings. The leather and canvas head liner is in Very Good Plus - Fine condition, considering its age and history. There are no rips or tears, but there are some creases and wrinkles. The stitching is sewn tightly. The foam is still intact and securely fastened. There are no markings on the head liner. As far as measurements go, we have no way of truly measuring this accurately. The best we could do is use a string to measure it so this may not be totally accurate, but the interior circumference is approximately 21.25" (53.98cm). However, the liner is made of hook and loop attachments so these numbers will vary. The chinstrap is in Fair - Good condition, considering its age and history. One of the side straps is torn 1/4 the way through, it is still functional but worth notating. The stitching is sewn tightly. The Velcro is still functional but some of them don't have a very good connection. The rivets and hardware are tarnished lightly. There are no visible markings. The CCE camo cover has several small rips and tears, some of them have been repaired and the repaired stitching is tight. The cover is securely fastened to the helmet. Most of the color is still intact. This French M78 F1 helmet will be a great addition to your French helmet collection, or a helmet collection in general.
