During his 21-year baseball career, Molitor played for the Milwaukee Brewers (1978–1992), Toronto Blue Jays (1993–1995), and Minnesota Twins (1996–1998). He was known for his exceptional hitting and speed. During his career, Molitor batted .306 with 3,319 hits, 234 home runs, 1,307 RBIs and 504 stolen bases and was inducted in the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 2004 on the 1st ballot. Alan Trammell was a 6× All-Star (1980, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1990), World Series champion (1984), World Series MVP (1984), 4× Gold Glove Award Winner (1980, 1981, 1983, 1984), 3× Silver Slugger Award winner (1987, 1988, 1990) and the Detroit Tigers retired his No. 3. Trammell’s entire 20-year playing career was with the Detroit Tigers. Trammell's defense perfectly complemented his double-play partner, Lou Whitaker. The two formed the longest continuous double-play combination in major league history, playing 19 seasons together. Trammell later served as the Tigers' manager from 2003 through 2005. Trammell was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 2018.
