Description: 1974 Gibson Hummingbird Custom with a Natural finish. This guitar is all original with no repairs or issues. It is in excellent condition. The top is very clean with only minor marks visible under direct lighting and a couple pinpoint dings. There are a few lights scuffs on the sides of the body from handling. A pickup was likely once installed but removed and the original strap button is included but not installed. There is one very tiny cosmetic binding crack near the neck heel and does not flex under pressure. The bridge is perfect with no issues. The pickguard has a very slight warp to it but could be glued back down easily if desired. The back of the neck is clean and smooth with no visible imperfections. The neck is perfectly straight and the truss rod works. The rosewood fingerboard is very clean and the frets have almost no fretwear. The original tuners work great. The guitar weighs 4.72 pounds. The neck thickness measures 0.817" at the 1st fret and 0.951" at the 9th fret. The string action is currently set to 2.39mm at the 12th fret with light strings and the guitar plays great with no buzzing. Includes the original hardshell case in excellent condition. All latches work, as does the handle. Also includes some vintage original case candy. Overview With a full complement of ornate cosmetic details, the Gibson Hummingbird was Gibson's second most expensive production acoustic when it premiered in 1960. The Hummingbird deviated from older Gibson dreadnoughts designs in its use of square shoulders instead of the rounded shoulders found on models like the J-45. Largely due to its striking visual flair, the Hummingbird remains one of Gibson's most iconic acoustics.
