Description: You are bidding on a 1972 Saab Sonett III aka model 97. LOW RESERVE!!! This is a sought after small bumper year and known as the best looking year. Fog lights were added from a donar 74. This car had a body off restoration a few years back with a professional welder fixing some spots in the floor and wheel wells. The car was painted and restored interior. The engine was pulled for a freshening and new clutch/bearing/pressure plate. Italian webber 34 carb was added. The flywheel was shipped off to be lightened and perfectly shimmed to the pressure plate. The trans input shaft was switched to a later stronger shaft. The freewheel has the appropriate delete but can be undone. All new hoses/belts/water pump added. Runs and drives great! Shifts very smoothly in all gears. 4th gear requires an extra bump to engage but is minimal. Never jumps gears. Electric fan added and always has run cool/perfect. Electronic ignition. Electric fule pump. Much of the interior is custom including a lower driver seat pad for taller/normal drivers (seen in pics). Carpet was replaced during restoration and recently the floor was dynamatted. Headliner was new but since sags and held up by custom painted sail battens. Tires in decent useable shape and would drive them far without worries but they are getting older. Brakes are great and master/slave cylinders rebuilt during restoration. Car had a complete new body gasket set added. Windshield and all rubber. Too much new/upgrades to list or remember! Cons:Wiper motor turns but blades dont move.Lights are a little inconsistent (needs to be used). A roll of a fuse covers it. Horn not working (likely simple wire in button)Some paint cracking as seen in photos. Looks great from a few feet and still a hit at shows.Rockers have some paint bubbling but are solidTrunk great! Slow start if sitting awhile/cold due to battery drain.(but always starts!) Underneath some surface rust mostly in non essential closing panel as seen in pics. Looks worse than really is...just trying to be upfront. Door cards are a little warped at the bottom as seen in pictures. Car comes with a ton of parts if the buyer wants from a donar 74 car. To include at a minimum: Spare body, doors, trans, motor (disassembled), dash, gauges, center console. rear end, rims, calipers, front suspension, original tan seats.
