All the scenes are labeled in Hebrew with quotations from the book. In the 8th text panel, below the final part of the Megillah, "Shoshanat Yaakov" is printed. This scroll is stored in a cardboard tube decorated with a figure of the enthroned Queen Esther with two men bowing to her. Below them, there is a Hebrew inscription bearing the original name of the artist - Zvi Malabenchik - which notes that the scroll was issued by Sinai Tel Aviv Publishing house in 1971.The first illustration (between the 1st and the 2nd column of the text, on sheet no. 1) depicts King Ahasuerus standing tall, wearing an opulent green garment, and facing the reader. There are two smaller figures on either side of him, potentially representing different nations within his empire - India (Hodu) and Ethiopia (Kush). It is labeled ("this is Ahasuerus who reigned, from India even unto Ethiopia" - Es. 1:1).The second illustration (between cols. 2 and 3 on sheet no. 1) depicts Mordecai and the young Esther. Mordecai wears a long blue robe with a red sash and holds a scroll in one hand while he pats Esther's head with the other. Esther stands beside Mordecai with her head bowed. She wears a circlet of leaves on her head, alluding to her Hebrew name Hadassah ("myrtle"). The illustration is labeled ("In Shushan [Susa] the palace there was a certain Jew, whose name was Mordecai" - Es. 2:5).The third illustration (between cols. 3 and 4 on sheet no. 2) depicts nine men bowing to Haman, who wears a red robe and the king's ring, along with his sheathed sword and signature hat. The illustration is labeled ("And all king's servants (...) bowed, and reverenced Haman" - Es. 3:2).Illustration no. 4 (between col. 4 on sheet no. 2 and col. 5 on sheet no. 3) depicts Queen Esther approaching King Ahasuerus. Wearing a dress with a long train and a netted veil, she bows to Ahasuerus, who sits at the top of a curving staircase and greets her with a welcoming gesture. He is guarded by a servant holding some sort of parasol, and there is a smoking vessel (perhaps containing incense) in the foreground. The scene is labeled ("What wilt thou, queen Esther? and what is thy request?" - Es. 5:3).Illustration no. 5 (between cols. 5 and 6 on sheet no. 3) is not documented here, though a sliver of it can be seen on the right side of this image; for a description of the scene see ID 318667). It depicts the triumph of Mordecai (Es. 6:11).Illustration no. 6 (between col. 6 on sheet no. 3 and col. 7 on sheet no. 4) depicts the hanging of Haman's son, only suggested by a ladder and a vertical pole. The scene is labeled ("The ten sons of Haman the son of Hammedatha" - Es. 9:10) and additionally, each man has a kind of diadem with his name in Hebrew on its brim.Illustration no. 7 (between cols. 7 and 8 on sheet no. 4) is divided into three parts, one below the other. They depict the Jews rejoicing at the end of the story of the Book of Esther. In the top row, women in yellow dresses dance with tambourines. In the middle row, men in green robes dance together. In the bottom row, men in blue robes carry large piles of fruit, which appear to be watermelon, grapes, and bananas, respectively. The Hebrew inscription at the bottom says ("The city of Shushan [Susa] rejoiced and was glad" - Es. 9:16).===========================Please see my other auctions Thank You Refund Policy: We will issue a FULL REFUND, 100% money back if you are not satisfied with your purchase.
