Perry of the Archdiocese of New Orleans; Acting House of Detention Warden John Sarran, and Doctor Lawler P. Daniels Jr. who is a chaplain of the institution. Doctor Daniels and Brother Robert E. Bell, Catholic chaplain, were both presented plaques in recognition of their services. Various New Orleans merchants donate gifts for the party, which has been an annual affair since 1955.
