1964 Red Fender Mustang Pre CBS Electric Guitar Clay Dots original July 64 Rare

Description: SUPER RARE RED FENDER MUSTANG BUILT IN JULY 1964 . RARE CLAY DOT NECK / POSITION MARKERS , ORIGINAL PAINT, PICKUPS, TUNERS, POTS, CASE, ALL ORIGINAL . This guitar is in good condition overall, the neck has almost no marks and the fret wear is light, there is some finger board grooving in the first fret position. The back of the body has paint missing and marks & playing wear. This has a 22 1/2" scale neck and approx. 1 1/2" wide at the nut. The Neck plate has a L series number I do not publish serial numbers but I can give a partial number L35XXX Neck is stamped 9 July 64 A One of the earliest Mustangs you will EVER find. I did some research after my listing and based on the neck date of July 64 and the pot date of 6426 which is the middle of July 1964 I would consider this Mustang made before some experts claim that Mustangs were made some state they were not made until August of 64. I would consider this older than some say they were even made. That is the reason for my listed price. This might be one of the first Mustangs made and for sure a very early one. Most of the marks look as though they are from just hanging out around the house for years. It has always been in the case for the last 30+ years that I have owned it. The Tuners look good the buttons are original and the button shafts are pretty straight. I doubt this has ever been repaired, other than the repair of a ground wire between the pots, this repair if it is a repair just looks sloppy to me so I am calling it a repair I guess it is possible it came from the factory that way ?? . This also includes the original hard case which is in fair condition for a 57 year old case, the case is missing the handle. The case is tan not Gray as most old mustang cases are just another rare thing about this guitar. As I said in my small type condition description this is a working guitar but the original pickup selector sliders are a bit temperamental and you have to move them a bit to make contact but they do work.
