Clyde Shields, 44, Seattle, and Nurse Carolyn Lewis, watch as machine dubbed the "Monster" operates at the University of Washington Hospital. The device, a master, mixing-and-pumping system for up to 15 artificial kidney patients, was announced by a University of Washington team.
