Thus the 10,000-Guaranies banknote bears the image of Dr. Jose Gaspar Rodriguez de Francia, a leader who consolidated the independence of the Republic of Paraguay. At the same time he established a historical awareness of the country's destiny as a sovereign state.The coat of arms with the motto "Peace and Justice" is common to all the banknotes; the delicately engraved border surrounding them varies from one note to another.
