1963 Paraguay 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 Uncirculated Specimen Set with COA

Description: 1963 Paraguay 100, 500, 1000, 5000, 10000 Uncirculated Specimen Set with COA "ParaguayParaguay, a country situated in the center of South America, is divided by the Paraguay River into two regions: oriental and occidental. Prior to the conquest, numerous Indian tribes, the most predominant being the Guarani, lived in these regions. The fusion of Spanish with Indian gave rise to the Paraguayan man. The language of the Indian has remained, making Paraguay a bilingual nation. Today, the Paraguayan speaks and sings in Spanish and in Guarani.Asuncion was made the capital of the large province of Las Indias, which embraced almost all of South America. In this vast geographic expanse, Paraguay emerged as a strong spiritual nation. Paraguay was the seat of the Jesuit Empire which attracted world attention and produced saints such as Roque Gonzales de Santa Cruz. It was also the center of the great "commoners" revolution, the leaders of which, Jose de Antequera y Castro and Fernando de Mampox, proclaimed for the first time in the Americas that the rights of the people are above the power of the king.Having declared independence, Paraguay became a sovereign nation on May 14, 1811. The Paraguayan state has issued banknotes since 1847 during the presidency of Don Carlos Antonio Lopez. Originally, the peso was the currency unit, but in 1943 the Guarani was institutionalized and became the monetary unit. Currently the denominations are: 100, 500, 1,000, 5,000 and 10,000 Guaranies. The designs of the coins and banknotes summarize the pure nationalist sentiments of the Paraguayan people. Thus the 10,000-Guaranies banknote bears the image of Dr. Jose Gaspar Rodriguez de Francia, a leader who consolidated the independence of the Republic of Paraguay. At the same time he established a historical awareness of the country's destiny as a sovereign state. The coat of arms with the motto "Peace and Justice" is common to all the banknotes; the delicately engraved border surrounding them varies from one note to another. With the exception of the 500-Guyaranies note, the characteristics of the design on the fronts of the banknotes are maintained on the reverse side. The designs show historic moments, scenes in the life of the nation and the more notable works of the modern country. These scenes are set between two worked denomination numbers. The design of the number on the right-hand side has a more pronounced relief than that of the figure on the left-hand side.
