It's bottoms-up in the fight against polio as 15-year-old Vicki Snyder downs a dose of the new Sabin-type oral polio vaccine at the William Penn High School in Harrisburg, PA. Vicki was one of nearly 100,000 persons in the Harrisburg area to test the colorless, odorless and tasteless vaccine developed by Dr. Albert B. Sabin of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. The test was conducted by the Dauphin County Medical Society using vaccine supplied without charge by Chas. Pfizer & Co., Inc. Vicki took the standard dose of two drops of vaccine, mixed with a half-ounce of distilled water.Photo measures 8 x 10.25inches. Photo is dated 04-29-1961.
