Size: 6-1/2" h. *** DESCRIPTION & CONDITION This auction is for a lovely and charming ceramic whale figurine that is estimated to be circa 1960s-'70s. The original makers label is present and it is presumed to be a Seymour Mann product. Seymour Mann (1911-2004) founded his first venture in 1946. He was a leading importer of decorative collectibles and giftware in the US for more than 50 years and his wife Eda Mirsky Mann designed many of his products as this one is believed to be. He is probably best known for his Connoisseur Doll Collection, introduced in the early 1980s. Eda Mirsky Mann (1912-2012) is a well recognized and listed painter in her own right.This whimsical whale with its great big smile and water squirting out of its blow hole is in beautiful vintage condition without cracks or chips. It has a nice weighty quality to it, unlike the cheep, lightweight ceramics of Asia. A very nice find, which will make a great addition to a whale figurine collection or a great decorative piece for a kids room.
