Description: Amazingly, this (Anthony) Freeman & (Gerald H.) McFarlin 2-piece smoking set has remained together for nearly 60 years! And what epitomizes the 60's better than olive green with a bit of Hollywood Regency gold gilt?? Both are signed "Anthony" who was the creative half of the partnership, with the cigarette box model number #656, the ashtray #651. Large ashtray measures 8 1/4" square (10 1/4" on the diagonal) with the 4 "feet" raising the height to almost 2 1/2". Round olive green ceramic insert nests securely into the base and measures 7 1/4" in diameter. Matching box that still holds the Freeman & McFarlin foil label measures 4 1/2" x 6 1/2" (7" on the diagonal) x 2 1/2" with the same olive green ceramic lining the interior. Both display cool retro rounded edges and slightly convex sides decorated with the ornate gold Romanesque motif. It's wild that both still display their original price tags from "LOWES GIFTS" obviously not the Lowe's (Home Improvement) that we know today! And considering their age, these pieces were PRICEY.....$20 for the ashtray and $12.50 for the box! Note that the price tags show the corresponding style numbers....656 and 651 and probably the department number. Both remain in wonderful condition with only the most minor signs of wear.
