Description: (CHURCHILL, Winston.) Typed Letter Signed to one of his nurses. A Typed Letter Signed by Winston Churchill to one of his nurses, Johanna Sheppard, dated December 1959, 1pp., on paper headed to 28 Hyde Park Gate, Knightsbridge, signed by Churchill at foot in a shaky hand; near fine. The letter reads as follows: “Dear Mrs. Sheppard, Thank you so much for sending me the beautiful roses on my Birthday. It was very kind of you. I hope that all will continue to go so well with you and your little daughter”. The recipient of the letter was Johanna Sheppard, who, with her husband Ivan, both of them London trained nurses, were amongst Churchill's personal medical team between 1956 and 1961; living with him at Chartwell. The signature betrays the failing health of the Prime Minister's later years. The Typed Letter Signed is accompanied by a later typed note with original envelope on the same tack. The later typed note is with a printed signature.
