I believe it’s from 1958 because the meters both list that date. When plugged in the light does not turn on and I can’t hear any noise from within. There is a fuse on the back and a red toggle switch for 100 or 117v. The fuse reads “Buss ACG 5”. It seems intact but I know nothing about electronics. So I wish I could say more about its functionality. It likely needs a little tinkering to work is my guess, or maybe I’m missing something. There is a small amount of flaking of paint and rust mostly on the top left side and side left and lower side on corner. The man who owned it generally took good care of his trains and other stuff. All the model trains he had were in good shape, some with original boxes. On the meter on the left (if looking at it from the front) it reads “Model 3AV 242” The meter goes up to 25, no other markings noted. The glass on that meter is a little loose and rotates but is not broken. Below looking down from above (not seen in pictures I can make out the lower white section of the meter reading “Sun Mfg. Co.” and on the other side below I believe it says “Chicago Illinois” but it is hard to read. The other meter on the right reads, “Type MR-65, Test 1000V, 1958” “Class 2.5, NO. 2040” The meter goes from 0-6. The plaque on top reads, “Tenshodo Model Section” “The Mark of Quality” “Handmade Scale Model By Master Craftsmen” “Gina Tokyo Japan” The 6 black dials on the front hold in 3 positions, top, middle and bottom. The 2 large speed control handles hold in position wherever you set them. The 12 red toggles make audible clicks whether in the upper or down position. The 1rst on hangs a little low in the upper position but clicks when moving it up. The on/off silver toggle on the bottom right clicks in place up or down. There are a few missing tiny screws (above and to the left and right of the plaque) and bottom front. The cord has no breaks in its integrity. The back side is missing a few screw ins for connecting electric line (see photos) note red and black screw ins and the ones without. All the soldering connections are intact and not loose. Measures about 19” x 9” x 7.5” (including 4 rubber legs making it a little taller). (See the many pictures for details) I’d be happy to try and answer other questions, I tried to be as detailed and honest as possible in the listing but I also don’t know much about this item and couldn’t find any information about it. This is the largest Tenshodo transformer I’ve seen based on looking online so I think it’s pretty rare and the capacity to do so much with this transformer makes it I think that much more versatile and would allow for a lot of possibilities for a model train enthusiast.
