Aida Diestro, the pianist and director of the group, is called "Aida Izquierdo". Elena Burke is "Elena Burque." Haydée Portuondo and Moraima Secada seem to have been merged into "Moraima Portuondo." - Originally released in 1957, this record features the female vocal group from Cuba, of whom Omara Portuondo was a member, supported by Chico O'Farrill as they do Rumba, Guaracha, Canción-Bolero, Mambo, and other typical Cuban rhythms. As far as I know, this is the girls' only record, though they were famous and quite busy for many years, obviously due to the high level of professionalism.Imagine close-harmony vocals and Chico's classic 50s orchestrations of Cuban music.Cheerful, uplifting music, this. Amazing album by the ultimate Cuban girl group, Cuarteto D'Aida. Recorded in Mexico in 1957 and backed by Chico O'Farrill's big band. Outstanding tracks include a cover of Belafonte's calypso "Matilda", and the amazing medley "Yényere cuma / El bombón de Elena". The group was formed in 1952 and this was their only album, since Elena Burke and Moraima Secada went solo shortly after the release of the album. Omara and Haydee Portuondo began their solo careers later, also to great success. --- Chico O'Farrillorchestral accompanimentAida Diestropiano, chorusmasterElena BurquevocalsHaydée PortuondovocalsMoraima SecadavocalsOmara Portuondovocals / We ship in record mailer boxes / - - - / -- SORRY - - LPS, they can not be returned as the condition can only be assumed - // - - - SEE MY OTHER EBAY AUCTION ITEMS THIS WEEK - - : - - < / >>MANY OTHER COOL MODELS & OLD TOYS ON EBAY THIS WEEK - - POSTAGE & WINNERS INFO BELOW ! - I WILL COMBINE SHIPPING ON MULTIPLE WINS -YOU CAN NOT PICK UP AT MY STORE IN SEATTLE ! - / NOTE PHOTOS MAY BE OFF REGISTER OR HAVE GLARE SPOTS / Please contact me if you have any questions: - - - P & H - LOWER 48 ONLY = $ 5.80 - AK & HI may BE MORE !! - INSURANCE IS THE BUYERS OPTION !! - / / NO P & H - - - to CANADA , International Buyers - Please Note: Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges.
