Description: This is an incredible 1957 Mexican Ex Voto Painting on Tin, Depicting a family of 10 praying to the Virgen de San Juan de Los Lagos. The text describes how one of the men of the family was falsely accused of killing someone, and was imprisoned, but the Virgen de San Juan gave him his liberty, and the family is gratefuland offers this retablo. It is signed Clementina Pena January 1957. The family is depicted wonderfully, with scale and proportion executed very stylishly. The border surrounding the image and the text is a very creative and well executed detail. This is among one of the finer 20th C. retablos we have seen. The Hecho En Mexico Sticker was applied by the previous owner to export them. Approx.
