REV: HERALDIC ARMS OF THE MUNICIPALITY OF TRUJILLO. ON OCTOBER 9, 1557 THE CITY OF NUEVA TRUJILLO WAS FOUNDED BY ONE OF THE "CONQUISTADORES DE AMERICA”, CAPTAIN DIEGO GARCÍA DE PAREDES (1506 - 1563). IT WAS KNOWN AS THE “PORTABLE CITY”, BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE MOVED SEVEN TIMES DUE TO SEISMIC ACTIVITY AND HOSTILITIES WITH INDIGENOUS TRIBES. IT WAS THE FIRST CITY TO BE BUILT IN THE VENEZUELAN ANDES MOUNTAINS.
