He gained international recognition for his pictures of and around Paris, France. Brassai interacted and was friends with Henry Miller, Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Alberto Giacometti, Andre Kertesz and several of the prominent writers of his time, including Jean Genet and Henry Michaux.
