We will only send a coin in for slabbing and evaluation under certain circumstances described below and we do sell these as well. Quality is comparable to the one(s) pictured, and each is chosen as among the best of the coins obtained directly from the U.S. Mint in “mint wrapped” (OBW) rolls in either U.S. Mint or String & Son Roll wrapping, and are usually much better than most of the BU quality typically offered at bargain prices by others, which include many flaws and imperfections caused by the Mint during mass production or packaging typical for business strike coins of this type. “Mint” means they are deemed the best quality to be sold in raw (ungraded) form. “Gem” or “Mint” uncirculated condition an uncirculated coin with only minor distracting marks or imperfections, and we have a lot of these. These have only the slightest distracting marks or imperfections. Toning is still quite acceptable and in these grades will usually be pleasing. At this point, mint luster is expected to be full, although toning is quite acceptable. “Choice BU” generally means “Choice Uncirculated” or “Choice BU” which means it has none of the heavy marks or imperfections that often come from the U.S. Mint (even though uncirculated) when they are processed by machines and bang into other coins that leave their mark. It is sometimes used to refer to a coin that is better than uncirculated grade 60-62 and thus good but not as good as a "GEM," which is 65 or better. The only difference between “Choice” and “Mint” to what you will get but with perhaps a few more imperfections barely noticeable, or a full refund will be given if you are not completely satisfied. If you are looking for a quality coin close to the price of a “BU” (possibly the lowest) condition uncirculated coin, we offer Choice as well as Mint quality. Although this one is ungraded, we also carry graded versions of these coins at very high grade, i.e., 66 or better. These coins at 66 or below “Mint” are not worth the cost of getting them evaluated by an expert and slabbed because the cost is about the same as the coin might sell for. We will send it in to an expert to be certified or graded if we think it is both a high “Gem” or “Mint” and then only if the prices of that particular coin justify the cost. We also carry coins we deem of this quality but do not grade them anticipating that some buyers will not need graded coins or will not want to pay the higher cost of such graded coins. All of our GEM, MINT and CHOICE coins came from and are brand new from the U.S. Mint and have never been circulated. We do not clean coins as that will destroy its value. Beware of circulated coins that are dull, worn or perfectly silver or where the photo is so bad you cannot tell! We do not alter or repair the photo of the coin in any way to “doctor” its look.
