Measures approx: 15.4 mm x 12.8 mm x 9.3 mm.Weight approx: 3.0 grams.A nicely detailed vintage sterling silver charm pendant of King Edward's Chair aka the Coronation Chair of the British monarchs. This one is stamped "1953 CORONATION 1953" which commemorates the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II. The Coronation Chair, also known as St Edward's Chair or King Edward's Chair, is an ancient wooden chair on which British monarchs sit when they are invested with regalia and crowned at their coronations. It was commissioned in 1296 by King Edward I to contain the Stone of Scone, which he had captured from the Scots. (In 1996, the stone was returned to Scotland, and kept in Edinburgh Castle. The stone remains property of the Crown and is transported to London for use at coronations.) The Coronation Chair was last used at the Coronation of King Charles the III and Queen Camilla at Westminster Abbey in 2023.
