Text-block lightly toned - no known marginalia. Many top-edges uncut. Please see photos. Loose pages enclosed in a slip case in fair condition. Slip case is still intact, but fore-edge is missing a large piece at head. Ribbon ties beginning to fray at loose ends - but still attached & able to be tied. Light toning to front and rear boards. Head and tail of slip-cases spine bumped. Index pamphlet toned. All plates present & in good condition - clean edges, bright illustrations. Binding of slip-case is intact - but can be fragile. It was published in Latin. In a note recovered after his death, Ernest Renan stated that, "Of all I have done, it is the Corpus I like the most."
