Description: 1950 Press Photo a man displays new high speed camera at Aberdeen Proving Ground This is an original press photo. Army's high-speed camera photographs explosives -- the Army's Ordnance Department has developed a camera which will take photographs at the rate of 100,000,000 frames per second. This new high speed device is used for recording shock and detonation waves in the study of explosives. The camera, in use at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, as an aid to research, photographs waves which move at a velocity of approximately 8000 meters per second. It is expected to aid materially in the future design and development of war weapons and possible industrial application. (US Army photographer)Photo measures 10 x 8.25inches.
