First edition. This comprehensive encyclopaedia of British Empire postage stamps includes a Postal History in Outline, and details of stamps from 1661-1947 with numerous b/w illustrations throughout. There are also 2 full-page b/w plates of Henry Bishop, Postmaster-General 1660-1663; and Sir Brian Tuke "Master of the Postes" for King Henry VIII. Burgundy cloth boards with gilt lettering on the front board and spine. Minor marks on the boards. Light foxing to endpapers.
