Description: Chicago American Gears vs Indianapolis Kautskys Basketball Program Western Division Playoffs Opening Round Game 3 or 4 - March 25 or 26 1947 @ International Amphitheatre After the Gears won Games 1 & 2 in Indianapolis, the Kautskys were facing elimination from the NBL playoffs. The Kautskys fought back to win Game 3 (IND 68 CHI 67) & Game 4 (IND 55 CHI 54) in Chicago to force a winner take all Game 5. The Gears would blow out the Kautskys by 14 points to go on to the NBL Semi Finals. George Mikan would average 19.7 pts in the series while Arnie Risen would average 19 pts. The 1946-47 American Gears featured George Mikan, Bobby McDermott, Bruce Hale & Bob Calihan. The Gears would finish the season 3rd in the Western Division but would go on to win the 1947 NBL Championship by upsetting the Indianapolis Kautskys (3-2), the Oshkosh All-Stats (2-0) & the Rochester Royals (3-1). The 1946-47 Indianapolis Kautskys featured Arnie Risen, Leo Klier, Gus Doerner & Herm Schaefer. The Kautskys finished the season 2nd in the Western Division before losing to the Gears in the NBL playoffs. The Kautskys went on to win the World Professional Basketball Championship which was a major tournament in the 1940s. **Please note this program is in Fair condition. The back cover has some paper loss and appears to have been removed from a scrapbook. The program is also scored in pencil.
