Description: Offered for sale is this nice 1945 airmail cover from David H Smith ARM 1/c at Corpus Christi, Texas to a Lieutenant at the Fleet Post Office in San Francisco. There is a Via Air Mail Sticker and the 8c green Transport airmail stamp, Scott C26. a U.S. Navy Naval Air Station machine cancel kills the stamp. There is also an interesting corner card on the backflap with the eagle and shield logo and David H. Smith A.R.M. and a second Via Air Mail sticker. My research shows that Smith was an army colonel serving in both World War II and the Korean War. Later he worked in military intelligence until retirement. He was buried at Arlington National Cemetery in 1999. This will make a nice item for a collection of Naval postal history. I have been selling on ebay since 2002 with over seven thousand successful transactions. Check my outstanding feedback and bid with confidence! mm-2996 0614
